THE ESTATE'S ORIGINS

The Knights Hospitallers of Pomerol
The Romans were the first to cultivate the Pomerol vines. Then, throughout the Middle Ages, the vineyard developed largely thanks to the Commanderies of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, known as the Knights Hospitallers, and today the Order of Malta. Pilgrims travelling to Santiago de Compostela, who followed the traditional route through Pomerol, were also able to find hospitality and comfort here.

REVEALING THE TERROIRS

Terroirs
A single plot of Merlot, around fifty years old, whose mainly sandy soil is propitious to excellent rooting. The Merlot asserts its seductive power and is naturally quick to ripen with fine-grained tannins.
